OBJECTIVES:
With the participation of top professionals from the contemporary art world, the proposal intends to get to know and bring to awareness, through the methods and structures of current business, the new emerging markets of art collecting. Proposing art as a source of inversion and business in the sense of expansion, the conferences hope to clear up, debate, and define current means of commercialization.
- Define the formulas of traditional trade: fairs, auction, galleries and merchants.
- Propose and bring to light the E-commerce or virtual market of art (ex. artnet, VideoArtWorld,..)
- Debate the strong irruption in the market of eastern artists.
- Clear up the importance of assessment at the moment of inversion in works of consolidated artists or future artists.
- Propose to private business the option of sponsorship and patronage as possible means of acquiring art pieces.
Inside an economy of credit and consumption, the conferences hope to recuperate and update the role of private business in the promotion of contemporary art, approaching them to traditional trade systems as well as to new methods of virtual purchasing. Having present the importance in a modern economy the investments on added value, conferences will present the art business as a sector able to intensify the economic tissue in a particular area, providing new growth resources.
In order to find the support of the administration into this economy, we recuperate art as a natural resource of economic value: an international trade good for the promotion of the national economy abroad. With the social compromise of medium and large businesses, a commercial platform of patronage and sponsorship will create a dynamic for the internationalization of the economy, investing in the divulgation and promotion of art and culture contemporarily.
With the intention of establishing a debate on the relationship between art and the business market, the Centro de Arte Cal Masso de Reus and the cultural services enterprise L&B art+communication, propose a series of conferences and speeches in ordert to develope the knowledge towards art collecting and the reality of current art. Through means of the contrasted vision of various professionals in the art world, the hope is to deepen in the figure of collecting art – public and private – responding to practical aspects that affect nowadays reality.
